I just finished reading the above, Stephen King "On Writing". I'm always looking for interesting insights, and ideas, anything that will help me hone my craft and this book didn't disappoint.
Part memoir, part biography, it follows this master story teller's journey from his earliest childhood up until it was first published. In the narrative of this story, we gain insights into the events, ideas and inspirations that shaped his style making him the writer he would become. Along with valuable advice, into how we can create our own journey.
Things like
Not waiting for inspiration.
Being disciplined.
Dealing with Rejection.
His ideas around revision, 2nd draft equals first draft -10%.
The need to keep reading.
his ideas around "Vocabulary" "Grammar" and "Style".
If you are a writer, you will find it inspirational and an invaluable tool. If you are just interested in the writing process you will find it provides a fascinating insight into the writing craft.
